Larry and Laurie Knifong lost their beautiful home to the Camp Fire as did many of their family members and friends.

The Knifongs were born and raised in Paradise, and it never crossed their mind to move or not rebuild their home again. Immediately after the fire they started the clean-up and purchased a manufactured home to put on the property and live in while they rebuild. The Knifongs moved into this new home in the spring. As you look out the window in their living area, you see the beginning of the construction on their pool house and the area where they will rebuild a more permanent new home.

They decided to rent some furniture and make their new living arrangements feel just like home. Laurie has done just that by putting her own personal homey cheerful touches. The home has a great room design with expansive windows across the back to capture the beautiful view of Hamlin Canyon.

Laurie loves to cook and the kitchen is quite spacious with an island. The master suite is also well designed and spacious.

Many readers may know Laurie from the Morning Star Quilt shop where she worked.

Laurie loves quilting and has a state of the art quilting machine called a Long Arm. Laurie uses it not only for her own personal use but also for custom quilting for clients.

When the fire struck Laurie grabbed all of her customer quilts and put them in her car. She wanted to be sure that they survived the fire. She wedged the new huge long arm machine into one of the bedrooms and amazingly it fit!

Although she lost most of her quilts, she has been busy making new ones. Be sure and notice the just completed Christmas pillows on the sofa.

In 1987 Laurie started buying Hallmark Christmas ornaments, choosing each one carefully. Sadly she lost them all to the fire.

So Laurie, not one to give up, searched and searched on the Internet and was able to replace almost all of them.

As always Larry and Laurie plan to cut their own Paradise Christmas tree; the only difference this year is it might be a little skinnier tree to fit their temporary home.
