CHICO — The city’s leaf pickup program is finished, with the last sweep of Chico streets underway.
According to Skyler Lipski, Chico Public Works manager, Jan. 1 was the last day to put leaves out in street piles. Street crews are making their final round to pick up the last of the leaves, he said this week.
Residents who have additional leaves are encouraged to put them in the yard waste bins for curb-side green waste pick up.
City crews have worked since November, picking up piles that residents have put out on the streets. The loads go out to the city’s composting facility near the Chico airport.
The compost facility is located at 4441 Cohasset Road, north of Eaton Road, and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call 624-3529. Compost will be available to the public starting in April, according to the facility.
Following the end of the leaf pickup program, the city shifts to street sweeping.
