The Chico Horticultural Society will meet Monday, Jan. 20, at the Butte County Library in Chico at 1108 Sherman Ave. The public is welcome.
The library is closed on Mondays so please enter the conference room via the side door on Sherman Avenue.
There will be refreshments and social time from 12:15-12:45 p.m., followed by the general meeting from 12:45-2 p.m. At 2, there will be a presentation on salvias by John Whittlesey, a nurseryman, garden designer and landscape contractor who owns Canyon Creek Nursery & Design.
Whittlesey’s book, “The Plant Lover’s Guide to Salvias” was released in the spring of 2014. His presentation is titled “Salvias — A Well Traveled Genus.” He will talk about the evolution of salvias and will recommend good salvias to grow in Butte County.
