CHICO — Chico residents will get a tour through edible and medicinal plants in Bidwell Park on Sunday.

Butte Environmental Council member and Bidwell Parks and Playground Commission member Scott Grist will lead this walk through Lower Bidwell Park, to describe and demonstrate the park’s edible and medicinal plants.

There are dozens of local wild plants and uses for each which will be discussed, including making rope, clothing, fire, water filters, natural shelters and more.

The walk will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 starting at Chico Creek Nature Center. Participants can donate $10-$20, but no fee or donation is required. Children are welcome.

A notebook is recommended to keep track of all information. Hopeful participants go to the Wild Edible & Medicinal Plants of Lower Bidwell Park event on Facebook to register for the event.
