CHICO — For 35 years, St. John’s Episcopal Church has held its annual Spring Garden tour, but the Camp Fire created new needs for the community and more people wanted to find out how to create smaller gardens with a variety of different plants.
So, organizers designed a fresh event called the Garden Fest that still includes a beautiful plant boutique, a delicious lunch, an enticing raffle and free entry for a door prize, but they’ve added informative and inspiring workshops.
St. John’s Episcopal Church holds its new Garden Fest that celebrates the love of plants and gardening. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2341 Floral Avenue, Chico.
These workshops will be ongoing throughout the event and will highlight container gardening, succulents, potted fruit trees, patio water features and more; for any size garden environment.
Tickets cost $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets are required for the lunch, workshops, plant boutique, raffle, and the free drawing for three nights in Tahoe’s Timber Lodge.
Included with each ticket are discounts from local nurseries. Tickets are limited, so the Garden Fest is recommending people buy early on the website stjohnschico.org, online at Eventbrite.com (search for Chico Garden Fest) or at any of eight local outlets:
- Christian & Johnson
- Hodges Nursery & Gifts
- Little Red Hen Gift Shop
- The Plant Barn & Gift Shop
- Little Red Hen Home Store
- St. John’s Church Office
- Magnolia Gift and Garden
- Little Red Hen Kids & Kitchens
Because of the church’s continuing commitment to those struggling with recovery after the fire, proceeds from the Garden Fest will go to the Jesus Center and other outreach ministries.
